Standards-based Access for Any Amount of Data

Nirvanix understands that your data sets vary in size and that data throughput and latency requirements differ based on use. That is why we offer several interface methods that help you optimize the performance and migration of large data sets.

Access to cloud storage without developing to an API

Nirvanix CloudNAS is a fast, secure, and easy way to capture the full benefits of enterprise cloud storage. Simply install Nirvanix CloudNAS to turn any server on your network into a gateway to the Nirvanix SDN without programming or developing to an API.

Accessible by your existing software and processes

Once installed, CloudNAS can be mounted as you would any storage device on your network. This means you can mount CloudNAS from your existing software and processes and gain access to virtually unlimited storage.

Encrypted data in flight and at rest

Nirvanix CloudNAS is the world's first software-only NAS solution accessible via CIFS, NFS, or FTP. It offers enhanced secure data transfers to any of Nirvanix's globally distributed storage nodes using integrated AES 256-bit encryption and SSL options.

CloudNAS features:

  • Virtual drive mount via CIFS or NFS
  • Optional inline AES 256-bit encryption for data at rest
  • Secured authentication and login
  • Optional SSL data transfers
  • Fits seamlessly into current enterprise storage cycles as an additional drive
  • Immediate integration as unlimited storage target for many applications
  • Drag & drop data backup and restore
  • Standard Linux-based permissions support
  • Domain controller support for access control
  • Storage and access management via the Nirvanix Management Portal (Web-based UI)
  • Random write support via software cache
  • Highly configurable for many use cases

CloudNAS for Windows System Requirements:

  • Server-class hardware with minimum 2 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM
    • Cache Enabled*: The greater of four times the largest single set of files that will be copied to the CloudNAS or a minimum of 200 GB
    • Cache Disabled: 100 GB free disk-space recommended.
  • Windows 2003 or Windows XP (currently only 32-bit)
  • .NET 2.0 Framework SP2
  • High-speed Internet connection with access to ports 80 (HTTP) and 443 (HTTPS)

CloudNAS for Linux System Requirements:

  • Server-class hardware with minimum 2 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM
    • Cache Enabled*: The greater of four times the largest single set of files that will be copied to the CloudNAS or a minimum of 200 GB
    • Cache Disabled: 100 GB free disk space recommended.
  • Linux Red Hat Enterprise 5.0 (32- or 64-bit); SUSE 10 (64-bit)
  • FUSE 2.7.3
  • High-speed Internet connection with access to ports 80 (HTTP) and 443 (HTTPS)

* Cache must be enabled for the use of CloudNAS encryption.

Resource:

Access the SDN via any popular FTP application

Nirvanix CloudFTP is a lightweight application that enables you to use any popular FTP client to access your Nirvanix account. You can turn any server on your network into a FTP proxy, transferring data into your account, or simply install Nirvanix CloudFTP directly on the server running your FTP client.

Standards-based transfer

Data can be transferred using any standard FTP client. Existing processes that use FTP can easily integrate for a fast and simple storage solution.

CloudFTP is currently in private Beta. If you are interested in becoming a Beta user, please contact a Nirvanix Solutions Sales Executive.

CloudFTP System Requirements:

  • Server-class hardware with minimum 2 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, and 50 MB free disk space recommended
  • Multi-OS Support
Windows 2003 or Windows XP (currently only 32-bit)
Linux Red Hat Enterprise 5.0 or SUSE 10 (currently only 32-bit)
  • High-speed Internet connection with access to ports 80 (HTTP) and 443 (HTTPS)

Access from any Internet-accessible application or device

The Nirvanix Storage Delivery Network can be accessed via the Nirvanix Web Services API, a standards-based API accessible via SOAP or REST protocols over HTTP or HTTPS. Both the Nirvanix CloudNAS and the Nirvanix CloudFTP utilize the API.

Developer Resources

In the Nirvanix Developer Center, you can access a full library of sample and reference code for every major programming language. You can quickly and easily get information on best practices from the Nirvanix development community or the Nirvanix solutions support team.

Nirvanix Namespaces

Related calls or methods are grouped into logical namespaces offering integrated, robust functionality that significantly reduces your development time.

  • Authentication: Create secure session tokens to control access to your account.
  • Accounting: Manage child accounts with calls to create, delete, set and retrieve limits, set contact information, and get usage.
  • MFS: Manages file system operations, directory structure and storing of information to your Nirvanix account. Includes base file and folder commands such as create, rename, copy, move, and delete.
  • Metadata: Add, modify, delete, and search custom metadata for files and folders.
  • Transfer: Upload or download files or parts of files.
  • Sharing: Enable public linking to select files and folders.
  • Image: Resize, rotate or flip images, and create thumbnails.
  • Video: Transcode various video formats into Flash using simple presets, or extract frames for thumbnailing.
  • Audio: Transcode audio files to different bitrates or formats.

Optimize the movement of data in and out of the cloud

For most customers, the primary method of accessing the Nirvanix Storage Delivery Network™ (SDN) is over the public Internet but Nirvanix also offers dedicated lines and White Glove Data Transfer™ for storing and accessing large data sets or rapid data delivery for disaster recovery purposes.

Public Internet – instant access utilizing your existing connection

You can access the SDN using your existing Internet connection and CloudNAS®, Cloud FTP™, the Nirvanix Web Services API or a Nirvanix partner application. The amount of data you will be able to store and access per day is largely dependant on your available bandwidth. Nirvanix Solutions Engineers will work with you to optimize throughput based upon your requirements.

Dedicated Line – for consistent performance and larger datasets

Accessing the SDN through a dedicated line is similar to connecting over the public Internet however your throughput is consistent and can be optimized to the maximum potential of the connection chosen. Nirvanix can support dedicated lines from 100 Mbps to 10 Gbps. To discuss dedicated line pricing talk to a Nirvanix Solutions Representative.

White Glove Data Transfer – transfer of data via hardware for rapid import and export

Sometimes data transfer over the public Internet or a dedicated line doesn't meet tight timelines for moving data to the cloud, corporate retention requirements, or recovery time objectives. These issues are solved with Nirvanix White Glove Transfer. Data is transferred to storage servers via GigE connections and then sent to or from Nirvanix via a storage courier service. This method bypasses the Internet and is ideal for importing large amounts of archived data or for quickly accessing data for disaster recovery purposes.
