Position Summary
A Developer Advocate at Nirvanix is responsible for a combination of outbound evangelism of Nirvanix as a platform for online media storage and delivery as well as helping new customers with integrating Nirvanix storage services into their applications. It’s a fun and extremely rewarding role as you are on the frontlines getting people what they need to create new online and desktop applications that utilize user-generated content, video sharing, and other media storage services.

Responsibilities

  • Be the primary advocate for customers creating applications integrating with Nirvanix
  • Field questions, feedback, and suggestions from Developers on Nirvanix’s user forums as well as posts throughout the blogosphere.
  • Rapidly funnel your recommendations into Nirvanix’s rapid development cycles, new and improved documentation, and other Developer resources that you make a reality
  • Recommend and organize new campaigns aimed at attracting new developers to the Nirvanix platform
  • Ensure smooth coordination between Developers and the rest of the Nirvanix’s development team in supporting our service
  • Lead our efforts to cultivate and inspire new Developers
  • Author blog posts, articles, podcasts, videos, and screencasts - whatever media you want to use - to communicate creative uses of the Nirvanix Platform, from the simple to the complex
  • Scope out and recommend developer conferences where Nirvanix could obtain a speaking slot to further development the platform.
  • Develop additional shared libraries, code snippets, and presentations to make the learning curve for new Developers integrating their applications with Nirvanix web services faster and even more efficient

Qualifications

  • You can write and have the ability to express complex technical subjects simply
  • You have experience writing code, specifically java, C#, PHP, Javascript, and HTML, and you enjoy it
  • You spend a lot of time online and stay up-to-date on new, fun things out there for developers as well as regular people
  • You have experience working on tight development cycles, love rapid iteration, and enjoy working with product managers, developers, QA engineers, and operations in getting things done
  • You graduated from a university and have a technical degree. Ideally, your degree is in computer science

Position Summary

Nirvanix has an immediate opening for a strong Software Engineer to join our core development team. As a member of the team, you will be responsible for working in an Agile environment, designing and implementing our state- of-the-art, Internet-based storage solutions.

Essential qualifications

  • Experience developing low-level storage software – volume managers, file systems, etc.
  • Detailed knowledge of NAS storage protocols, including both CIFS and NFS
  • Familiarity with caching algorithms, tiered storage, and HSM / ILM
  • Expertise in HTTP, TCP/IP, sockets, and low-level network protocols
  • Significant experience in performance tuning and systems-level debugging
  • Strong Linux experience working in C / C++
  • Solid experience with object-oriented (O/O) programming

Desirable knowledge

  • Samba, ext3, ftp, and other similar services
  • RAID storage algorithms
  • Disk-based backup, VTL, snapshots, CDP
  • SAN implementations and architectures
  • Block-based storage protocols such as iSCSI
  • Web services concepts (SOAP, REST, XML, serialization)
  • Relational databases
  • Agile / Scrum methodologies

NOC - Customer Support

Position Summary
The Network Operations Center oversees the daily operations of our world-wide production network of storage nodes. This role will perform proactive and reactive monitoring for our systems world-wide as well as provide the initial point of contact for our business customers. The candidate will respond to all systems alerts and alarms, triage and troubleshoot problems, manage all incidents to completion, report on system status making recommendations for improvement and ensure world-class service to our business customers. He or she will have a proven history of problem solving Windows servers, LAN/WAN devices, internet connections and web services. He or she must work well in a self-directed team environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Exceptional customer service, time management, and organizational skills
  • Monitor and service our world-wide network of production storage nodes in a 100% up-time environment
  • Analyze, monitor, and resolve performance issues related to hardware and software in a 7x24xforever environment
  • Work with our vendors and providers to resolve issues around the clock
  • Interface with all departments in the company regarding our system status and operations
  • Respond to all alerts generated by the monitoring tools, documenting the issues and solutions employed
  • Actively monitor servers and network devices for system health and performance metrics reporting on trends and making recommendations for improvement

Requirements

  • Strong, practical experience with network attached storage using RAID configurations

  • Production configuration and support of various flavors of Linux distributions
  • Experience with performance monitoring and tuning in a large scale storage environment
  • Thorough understanding of critical SLAs in a production environment and proactively strive to exceed target
  • Strong skills in Windows operating systems
  • 4+ years of system administration experience supporting Windows servers with an emphasis in .NET, clustering and MS-SQL
  • Proven expertise of Cisco network equipment

Position Summary
Sr. Systems Administrator oversees the design, implementation and 7x24xforever operations of the Nirvanix infrastructure. This senior role will lend guidance and leadership to other team members, without having direct, managerial responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be an extremely customer-focused and organized individual. He or she will also possess a high level of experience related to networking, storage hardware, and the Windows .NET environment. He or she must work well in a self-directed team environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Design, implement and support a world-wide network including Cisco, WebMux and SonicWall devices
  • Design, implement and support large-scale storage systems in a 100% up-time environment
  • Maintain and support SAN/NAS environments such as RAID groups, allocating disk space and host configurations
  • Analyze, monitor, and resolve performance issues related to hardware and software in a 7x24xforever environment
  • Provide Subject Matter expertise to research and development teams
  • Develop and implement advanced monitoring systems to ensure 100% up-time
  • Assist in the development of the world-wide data center roll-out and disaster recovery plans
  • Implement continuous improvement methodologies to ensure systems are always current and performing with optimal efficiency
  • Responsible for data protection and backup strategies
  • Schedule and coordinate installation and maintenance of standard software/hardware on the network and ensure compatibility of all communications and computer hardware/software
